Imagine Waking Up To Find Your Skin Has Become Dry, Thin, Lined With Wrinkles And Saggy Seemingly Overnight

Updated: Jul 17

Common skin changes post-menopause

  • Dryness: Reduced oestrogen levels lead to a decrease in natural skin oils and moisture.

  • Thinning: Skin becomes thinner and more fragile due to decreased collagen production.

  • Wrinkles and fine lines: Loss of collagen and elastin results in more pronounced wrinkles.

  • Sagging: Reduced elasticity can cause skin to sag, particularly around the Jawline and neck.

  • Itching: Dryness and thinning can lead to itchy skin.

  • Increased Sensitivity: Skin can become more sensitive and reactive

  • Changes in pigmentation: Age Spots and uneven skin tone can become more pronounced

Increased risk of certain skin conditions: Rosacea, eczema and skin infections can become common. Added to this reduced skin regeneration can lead to slower healing of cuts and bruises.

  • Consider using retinoids (like retinol) to improve collagen production and reduce wrinkles. Start with a lower concentration to minimize irritation.

  • Incorporate serums or creams containing anti oxidants like Vitamin C and E to protect the ski from environmental damage and improve skin tone.

  • Use gentle exfoliants like alpha-hydroxy-acids( AHA’s) to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. Look for products with glycolic acid. lactic acid azelaic acid in.
